The following is my interview with Rawiya
MeWhat made you decide to write an interracial romance? As a woman in an interracial relationship, I’ve found the book options to be rather limited.
Rawiya: I’m in an interracial marriage as well. The prime reason I decided to focus on it is because I wanted more stories that didn’t cater to the stereotypes. None of my books will feature their racial differences as part of the plot line unless it is integral to the book. I believe the choices are getting better though in m/m and m/f.
Me:How did you decide on the gender make-up of your characters?
Rawiya: Well for this latest story this is the first book I kind of wrote myself into it with my 2 favourite musicians as the men involved. You can kind of say this is an alternative universe fanfiction story. *laughs* I wanted a strong minded, fearless open minded black female with an established gay couple.
Me:When you write do any of your ideas come from real life?
Rawiya: I have a couple I haven’t written that I’d like to do on life experience. I’d have to jazz them up a little bit though so they’d be more interesting. *giggle*
Me: How do you decide if a scene you’ve written is too steamy? Or, do you feel that nothing is off limits?
Rawiya: With me as the more sensual pseudo, I don’t really get too erotic. That’s BLMorticia’s department. I doubt you’ll see me writing any BDSM unless it’s light handcuffs and feathers. *laughs* My work is suppose to be more on the sweet and sensual side of romance. Not totally vanilla since I write M/M and MMF as well but the scenes aren’t rough, they’re more emotional, and they tend to go longer than the other two pseudonyms.
